Gorillas-report writing By James

Gorillas
Gorillas are members of the greater apes , and inhabit africa and the democratic republic of congo.
Gorillas have black rimmed brown eyes.Their fur is blackish brown except for adult males who have grey backs hence the name silver backs. The head  of a gorilla have extended jaws that point out of its skull.Adult gorillas weigh around 135-180kgs and females weigh between 68-180 kgs.
Gorillas are mainly herbivores and eat fruit, leaves ,sticks and in one subspecies - the western variety a small amount of termites and caterpillars.
Baby’s live with their mothers  until they are six years old however  as the baby's get older they spend  less and less time with their mothers. Gorillas can live to up to 40 years on average.
There are three different types main species of gorilla - there is the mountain gorilla which live in forests in central africa's mountains. also there is the western  gorilla that lives in swampy jungles in west central africa. The last species is the eastern gorilla which lives in similar terrain to the western species but in east central africa instead.
Gorillas walk mainly on their legs and knuckles but they can walk upright
for short distances only.
Gorillas are a clever ,interesting species that help to prove the theory of evolution.however these amazing creatures are sadly dying out
